I had considered buying some titanium cookware for backpacking. However, they said that it heats unevenly and has a tendency to burn food. They said that it is really only good for heating water for dehydrated foods. What has your experience been with this wok? Thank you, BM A: From FGS to Mr BM 2000/08/02 wednesday 16:10 Dear BM, Thank you very much for your inquiry about our titanium products. >>I have been told that titanium cookware doesn't cook very well because it heets unevenly. I had considered buying some titanium cookware for backpacking. However, they said that it heats unevenly and has a tendency to burn food. They said that it is really only good for heating water for dehydrated foods. What has your experience been with this wok? Thank you, Bill Martin<< Yes, you are right. Burning and stick of contents to the surface may be a kind of problem if you do not know how to use and get used to the cooking way. (Cooking ware for mountain climbing in particular) As you may know Titanium is a very special kind of material who has the characteristics 1)High heat conduction (concentration) and 2)A little slower to spread the heat over the surface of the vessel than aluminum. There is not so big different from Stainless Steel.Taking the two into consideration, furthemore Titunium is so hard, tough and light that its thickness tends to reduced thiner than any other material. Therefore heating go through the material very quick nearly without any energey losses and contact the food inside the vessel. This may be a main reason and cause of easy burning which may be said. But please reconsider, the above characteristics are also become the advantages. That is, when cooking less energy is needed to cook the food. In other word you can save the energy (fuel, gass and so on). You can cook the food with small heating than any other material vessel. On top of that, Titanium never ionizes the food inside the vessel. This mean the taste of food inside the titaninum vessel is not changed during cooking. And there is Non-metalic smell. Without burning, we assure you that you can really enjoy the good, delicous and excellent taste with Titanium cooking wares. Only you have to note that small heating is essential and to get accustomed to cooking with Titaium vessel is needed. >>#HW006 Titanium Non-stick Wok 28cm Pure titanium vessel coated with silicon with wooden handle<< The undersinged, I have been using Titanium Wok without silicon coaring for a year with less heating than other material. I have been enjoying the taste of the food cooked with the Titanium Wok. It seem that we eats natual taste food as it is though it was cooked. I believe that the taste and healthy facts (Titanium never contaminates human body and friendly) and save energy do compensate the demerit about such burning. Our silicon coated wok is developed for first user of Titanium vessel because due to the silicon coating user can generally avoid from burning during cooking. I hope the above explanation will of some help to you. And you enjoy cooking and taste with ours in the future. Thank you again for your kind reading the story. S. Kotera
